On December 03, 2024 – The Department of Climate Change (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) has issued Official Dispatch No. 1726/BĐKH-PTCBT announcing the calculation results of Vietnam’s electricity grid emission factor for 2023.
According to the dispatch, Vietnam’s electricity grid emission factor in 2023 is 0.6592 tons of CO₂ per MWh, a decrease from 0.6766 tons of CO₂ per MWh in 2022. This decline reflects efforts to increase the use of renewable energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels in the national power mix.
Specific Electricity Grid Emission Factor Over the Years:
- 2020: 0.8041 tCO₂/MWh
- 2021: 0.7221 tCO₂/MWh
- 2022: 0.6766 tCO₂/MWh
- 2023: 0.6592 tCO₂/MWh
