SP Group (SP), a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions and grid operations in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region, has partnered with Nuriflex Vietnam, a prominent rooftop solar developer and maintenance service provider, to deliver a renewable energy project in Vietnam.
The partnership includes a Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA) with TKG Taekwang Vina, a South Korean corporation, to develop and install rooftop solar systems with a capacity of up to 20 MWp across three major factories. These facilities, which currently operate 56 production lines and employ 65,000 workers, will benefit significantly from this initiative.
The rooftop solar project, set to commence operations in October 2022, is expected to generate over 28,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually. This will meet more than 10% of the electricity demand for the three factories while reducing carbon emissions by over 22,000 tons each year. Additionally, TKG Taekwang Vina will receive renewable energy certifications, such as greenhouse gas emission credits.
For SP Group, this project signifies a milestone in its renewable energy expansion in Vietnam, aligning with its commitment to invest in and develop the country’s energy sector.
During a recent visit to Vietnam, SP Group CEO Stanley Huang reaffirmed the company’s pledge to invest approximately USD 550 million in sustainable energy projects in Vietnam by 2025. The goal is to double the country’s wind and solar power generation capacity by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. SP Group currently serves 1.6 million industrial, commercial, and residential customers in Singapore through its extensive electricity and gas transmission and distribution networks. The company also operates similar networks in Australia and delivers sustainable energy projects in Singapore, Vietnam, and China.
